Today is the first (official) day of summer!
Time for a little update!
Since the last update, I have started posting more articles about fishing.
Along with that, I've been trying to get in as much fishing as I can responsibly get away with. One of the things I was curious about going into this season was how much of what I practiced last year would become habit. I would say a good portion of ideas stuck with me, and the first few outings of the year it seemed that the habits I built up surrounding observation of where fish are holding and targeting that water was one of the big ones that I was doing autonomously.
Beyond that, I'm also curious to see how some of these habits and understandings progress. I already have a few ideas of things I would like to try out this year, which may evolve into a few posts regarding those individual ideas, but I suppose I'll have to gauge how I feel about the experiences and observations as I'm able put some of those ideas into practice.
A few of those ideas that I would like to try out take me outside of the parameters I had set for the experiment, which I don't recall ever posting in this series... I only recorded outings in which I fished with a tenkara rod (which I think went without saying), and a single fly at the end of the line.
The idea was to keep it more "traditional," to a degree. As I'm progressing through the second year of the experiment, there are some possible solutions to certain situations that have crossed my mind. I don't want to get things too mixed up, though. So, with that, I'm hoping to do a few little side experiments and report back!
Heading into the next few month it's possible there may be a change to the pacing of the articles, but I suppose we'll see how everything comes together.
It does look like the main river is starting to come into "fishable" flows, so I'm hoping to start releasing some posts that revolve a bit around the techniques and approach I use on the river, instead of just those from the creek.
