The Yonah Hip Pack - A Short Review

I’ve been spending a lot of time rethinking how I have my pack set up lately. From organization of spools and accessories, to the tools that I use most often and how to keep them most accessible. But one thing that stays constant is the pack itself. I’ve been using my Yonah Hip Pack for several years, and I have a hard time finding a different pack that offers the simple solutions that this one does. While this pack might not work for everybody, it more often than not checks all the boxes for what I need on the water.

Its design is simple, yet functional. Made from x-pac fabric, this pack offers well thought out features. The main pocket is large enough for all your essentials. With one larger divided pocket and two smaller ones inside, it’s easy to keep our lines and fly box organized. A smaller pocket on the front keeps smaller items, such as a fishing license, accessible.

Other features include a loop for spools of tippet, webbing across the front for tools, and straps at the bottom of the pack to hold either a rod or a water bottle. One cool feature worth mentioning is that this pack easily converts into a sling pack using the clip and loops on either side of the pack. Simply undo the slik-clip and put it through the two colored stitches on the side strap.

This pack is easily my most used pack. I don't own many packs, but this one goes with me most places. Small streams, big rivers, anywhere I go this pack is most likely with me.
